Detailed notes on condition.

My standards with regards to condition of material are rigorous:

MINT STAMPS: All stamps are in fine unmounted mint fault free condition with full perforations unless specifically stated otherwise. For unmounted mint items generic images may be used. Any apparent defect/blemish apparent on the images unless described can be assumed to be artefact.

USED STAMPS: All used stamps will be fault free (no creases, thins etc) unless described otherwise. All used items for sale will be illustrated with actual item for sale. There are no generic images for used items.

BOOKLETS

STITCHED BOOKLETS: (Machin 2/-, 4/6, 5/-, 6/-, 10/-, 10p, 25p, 30p, 35p, 45p, 50p, 85p and £1 Prestige Booklets) as complete booklets with all panes and interleaves are assumed to be with "perforations as they come" i.e one or more panes with varying degrees of trimming of perforations. Booklets with full perforatiions on all panes will be specifically described and will command a substantial premium.

FOLDED BOOKLETS: (Machine vended, Counter booklets, "Window" booklets, Greetings booklets) will have full perforations on all perforated edges unless stated otherwise. Note: some booklet panes were produced with intentionally imperforate edges.

Loveland Scale: is used to describe condition of perforations on booklet panes. NOTE: THe edges are described by holding the selvedge at left and describing the edges in a clockwise direction starting at the top.

1. Full perforations with no trace of trimming

2. Slight trace of trimming

3. Perforations trimmed but with more than half remaining

4. More extensive trimming with less than half remaining

5. Only traces of perforation still remaining

6. Straight edge

7. Straight edge close to or touching stamps

-. An intentionally imperforate side
